Our mission is to move financial, intellectual, and human capital to improve outcomes for women and girls across Asia. Members of the Asia Gender Network support a wide variety of causes – locally, regionally and globally. From education to health care, leadership development to improving livelihoods, women in the workplace to girls in technology, justice for survivors of violence to ending modern slavery, each Asia Gender Network member brings passion, action and generosity to projects that empower women and girls in Asia.
In 2020, the Asia Gender Network blossomed out of the desire of our founding members to engage with peers across Asia to change the trajectory for women and girls. Together we are learning from each others’ experience on the ground, collaborating on finding solutions and inspiring others to join us to drive gender equality in Asia. Given the diversity of Asia and the scale of the challenge, we are growing the network, working to elevate local networks to regional conversations, and providing platforms for our members to represent Asia and their causes on the global stage.
The ultimate goal is to reduce the time it takes to eliminate the gender gap in Asia, which the World Economic Forum currently estimates to be 163 years in East Asia. That must change.
It all starts with commitment. Commitment to the vision and to working together. Because we’re serious about getting equality for women in Asia before 163 years. We believe that capital accelerates change. We are committed to this vision over the long run and we have decided to collaborate with each other, learn from one another, and hold each other accountable to this shared vision. We are here to make an impact – the Asian way, for Asian women and girls. There’s such strength in the Asian way.

We are a unique funders’ network of 600 members across 35 markets who help social investors across Asia to move capital towards impact. AVPN’s mission is to move towards a more strategic, collaborative, and outcome-focused approach to social investing. Amongst other themes, we focus specifically on gender issues. Working with the 350+ AVPN members who have stated gender equality as one of their priorities, we can embed connections to further amplify the work of the Asia Gender Network.
